Dr. Hussein Musa has a strong desire to help patients suffering from acute and chronic pain as well as dependence and addiction. He has pursued specialized training in addiction medicine and brings this advanced knowledge to NuHope. In addition to his partnership with NuHope, Hussein works with patients in multiple opioid treatment centers and previously provided interventional pain medicine treatment in private practice.

Hussein is triple-board-certified in Anesthesiology, Pain Medicine, and Addiction Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Columbia University Medical Center at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He then completed his Pain Medicine fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Hussein completed his fellowship training in Pain Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He was trained to perform interventional pain medicine procedures such as Epidural steroid injections, Radiofrequency ablation, Ultrasound guided nerve blocks, Spinal Cord stimulator placement, and more.

Hussein is originally from Chicago, IL. where he attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC). He went on to become a Howard Hughes Research Fellow and pursued molecular biology research at UIUC and at the NIH sponsored Summer Research Internship Program at the University of Virginia, which resulted in several scientific presentations and publications. He graduated from UIUC with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology and received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine in 2011.
